Divers
On May 23, 2023, the Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg and the German Logistics Association BVL - Bundesvereinigung Logistik invited their members to visit the new Tobacco and Cigarette Factory of Heintz van Landewyck, in Fridhaff.
During the visit, the whole process from raw tobacco to the cigarette, the product ready for dispatch, was explained and showed to the participants. The guests visited the in-house laboratory, the warehouse including the automated high-bay warehouse, the leaf department, the printing department, and several production areas.
The company was founded over 175 years ago, in 1847, by Joséphine van Landewyck and her husband Jean-Pierre Heintz in Luxemburg City. Today, Landewyck has 3 production sites: one in Luxembourg (Fridhaff), one in Germany and one in Hungary. Together they produce over 8 billion cigarettes, more than 6 billion cigarette tubes, 4.500 tons of tobacco for rolling and plugging, as well as new types of tobacco-free products per year.
Thank you, Sylvie Winandy and Carla De Bastos, for showing the participants around and answering all the questions!
