As a sign of appreciation for the outstanding achievements of young logistics technicians, the Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg awarded the two best logistics technicians for the fourth time in a row in the presence of Education Minister Claude Meisch. The transport and logistics sector is in a state of constant change, in which topics such as digitalization, automation and innovative and sustainable technologies are gaining in importance. In order to master these complex challenges, new talented logisticians have been trained in Luxembourg every year since 2015 as part of the program "Diplôme de Technicien en Logistique". In 2022, 15 students from the two schools Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie and Lycée Technique de Lallange passed the final exam.

In the past school year, Chiara Dewans, a student at the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie and employed by Arthur Welter Transports, and Marvin Charpentier, a student at the Lycée Technique de Lallange and employed by Sales-Lentz, made a name for themselves with outstanding achievements. The Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg honored the special talent and commitment of these two students by presenting the DT Logistics Awards 2022. On October 4th 2022, Claude Meisch, Minister of Education, Children and Youth and Carlo Thelen, CEO of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, honored two students for their outstanding achievements in their education.
The cooperation leads to a success story
Sixty graduates now have a Diplôme de Technicien en Logistique. "This training course is a success story," says Minister Meisch on the occasion of the logistics Oscar. "The training benefits from the commitment of motivated teachers and experts and the cooperation between the schools and the private sector guarantees that the training meets the expectations of the companies", according to Minister Meisch. This approach enables positive results, as around 90 percent of those who complete the training program find a job straight away.
The shortage of skilled workers is also impacting transport and logistics companies hard, and the need for qualified employees will continue to increase in the coming years as baby boomers retire, according to Malik Zeniti, director at C4L. The technician diploma can help companies find and retain these employees in the country. Not only truck drivers, but also dispatchers and warehouse management are in short supply throughout Europe. Luxembourg companies therefore appreciate the logistics training and generally hire motivated trainees straight away.
The knowledge that logistics graduates have acquired at the end of their training ranges from profound knowledge of the various modes of transport to an understanding of the complexity of multimodal transport. These logistics talents find jobs primarily with freight forwarders and logistics companies, but also in industry and trade. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the various Luxembourg companies that are willing to train students in all areas and those that allow their excellent staff to work as teachers, without which practical experience would be difficult could be shared,” says Carlo Thelen.
The graduate training for technicians in logistics was introduced in 2015 with the help of the Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg and prepares young students for jobs such as the transport planification. Logistics and industrial companies need qualified and motivated young employees in order to fulfill the diverse tasks. "The successful training of new talents in the field of logistics over the last few years sets the course for a positive development of the logistics industry in Luxembourg" welcomes Philippe Scholten, responsible for the "DT en Logistique" program at the Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg. The area of responsibility of the trained qualified technicians includes, among other things, the planning and organization of transport, the management of warehouses and the implementation of customs clearance. Our logistics talents find jobs at over 700 companies such as freight forwarders, logistics companies, but also in industry or trade.
